How many calories can I burn while I'm dancing?

Most of us know you can get a serious workout while out dancing to your favorite songs. But just how many calories are you dancing out of your system? And how do those calories compare to what you might be eating?

Below is a handy-dandy chart I found on latindancepro.com (I love researching dance!) Check your current weight and see how many calories you're burning off each hour you spend shakin' your groove thang.

Example: A 125 pound dancer burns 330 calories dancing a Cha-Cha for an hour. That's like completely erasing the 5th Avenue candy bar (280 cal.) from the vending machine right off your hips and thighs! Or like melting away that Dove milk chocolate and vanilla ice cream treat like it never touched your lips. And that slice of pepperoni pizza? Forget about it. After an hour of dancing, it no longer exists.

Weight loss: If I must burn 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound of body fat, then I can just Cha-Cha for 10.6 hours... which sounds to me like way more fun than being on the stair climber for 8.8 hours, doing high-impact aerobics for 5.8 hours or taking a moderately paced walk for 15.5 hours.

So, with a couple of dance classes a week and a night out dancing on the weekend you can say good-bye to a pound of fat in two weeks without even changing how you eat.
